Dear friends,
I am honored to be serving in Montpelier as a legislator representing Addison, Ferrisburgh, Panton, Vergennes, and Waltham. Over the past two years I've worked hard on a variety of issues that affect our region:
Champlain Bridge: As Vice Chair of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) and a member of House Transportation Committee, I was one of the first public servants to focus on the crisis brought about by the bridge closure. I've worked to ensure funding for the new Champlain Bridge and to obtain ferry and bus service when the bridge closed down. I also fought hard to make sure that the budget included $800,000 in economic relief for businesses affected by the bridge closure.
Stronger Vermont Economy: I supported the jobs bill, which invests almost $9 million in federal stimulus funds in broadband, workforce training, access to capital, agriculture, and many other worthwhile projects.
Property Tax Relief : I firmly supported the pledge not to raise any broad-based taxes by voting to reduce the education property tax rate. School boards across Vermont held spending down this year, and it was important to me that they received some relief. Renewable Energy: I voted for a bill that makes another big investment in our clean-energy future. It's a package that builds on last year's major success, the feed-in tariff, which allowed many small renewable energy developers to start selling their power at a fair and consistent price.
Drug and Alcohol Prevention : I've been recognized by statewide coalitions for my work to help teens avoid alcohol and drugs.
I want to continue to work on the issues that are important to Addison County. I'm willing to work hard to be re-elected on November 2nd, but I need your help . It is unfortunate that running a campaign costs money; although I love going door-to-door visiting constituents, I also need money to pay for lawn signs, post cards, and mailings. So, I'm writing to ask you to help, by contributing as much as you can. Volunteering is greatly appreciated as well.
Thank You for your help,
