Diane Lanpher is pleased to have been elected on March 6, 2007, Town Meeting Day to serve on the Vergennes City Council for a two year term. She lives on Maple Street in Vergennes with her husband Jim and their dog Peeka. Diane and Jim have three grown children who have exciting lives of their own (Family).

Diane is traveling to Burlington where she has worked for the VT Dept of Health, Div. of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programs since 2001 as the Training Coordinator. Most recently, Diane worked on efforts to prevent the drug, methamphetamine and it's labs from developing in Vermont . In collaboration with the VT Dept of Public Safety's Drug Task Force Diane has worked on methamphetamine educational awareness and assisted with legislative action. Diane has had the opportunity to represent the Health Dept on this issue in Montpelier . On 5/4/06 the Vermont legislators passed the bill H.480 “An Act Relating to Precursor Drugs of Methamphetamine”. She has also been the coordinator for major educational state-wide conferences sponsored by her division. Diane is leaving her position with the Health Dept in order to run for office.

She currently has the opportunity to work for The New England Institute of Addiction Studies, Augusta , ME as their VT Training Coordinator. The focus of this new position is working to enhance the adolescent substance abuse treatment services in Vermont .

Diane worked at the Vergennes Elementary School and High School in the Special Education Dept from 1986 to 1992 (Educator) and then at Cornell Trading Inc. in Burlington until she joined the Health Dept. in 2001 (Bridge to US).

Most important Diane has been an active member of her parish of St. Peter's in Vergennes (Faith). With a commitment to her students and community Diane has been an supporter to Friends of Music, Adam Workman and Friends concert, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and neighborhood play house (Community). Active within political party and has been the Addison County State Committee Women to the Vermont State Democratic Committee for the past 4 years (Politics).
